I. Half-day trips

1. A walk around Jiřetín pod Bukovou (3.0 km)

Walk past the shop, the Culture House, the panel building, past the row of garages, the retirement home until you come to the bridge across the river Kamenice. After crossing the bridge you are in Horní Tanvald – turn right along the road here and again take the first turning on the right, which takes you back across the bridge to Jiřetín p.B. Go past the firm of DETOA s.r.o. to the Na stráži pub (for a change you’re now in Smržovka) and then go right under the railway bridge. Follow the paved path up (don’t turn off to the left to Skřivánek) to Horní Jiřetín. From here follow the tarmac until the paved path joins the tarmac – now go left (the local cemetery is on the right), past the old cross on the right down towards the Buková guesthouse (refreshments available). Keep going down (houses on the left), over the railway crossing and left to the signpost.

2. Horní Jiřetín to Smržovka (3.5 km)

From Jiřetín follow the yellow markers to the pod Bukovou crossroads. From here follow the blue markers to Smržovka. You can take a train back.

3. To Josefův Důl – to the waterfall on Jedlová stream (4.0 km)

From the railway station at Jiřetín pod Bukovou by train to Josefův Důl. From here follow the blue markers to Jedlová waterfalls and back.

4. Na Špičák – Albrechtice v Jiz. horách – Jiřetín p. B. (6.0 km)

From Jiřetín take the green route to the top of Špičák. Follow the green path from the top, then take the blue to the village of Albrechtice v Jizerských horách. From here take the road to the left into the valley, which leads to Jiřetín.

5. To Buková Hora and back (7.0 km)

From Jiřetín stay on the yellow path until you come to the top of Buková Hora. Here you can visit the Devil’s Chamber. Take the same route back.

6. Across Buková Hora to Josefův Důl (7.0 km)

From Jiřetín stay on the yellow path until you come to the top of Buková Hora. Here you can visit the Devil’s Chamber. From here continue along the yellow route to Josefův Důl and the railway station. You can take a train back.

II. Day trips

7. To Mariánská Hora – Mariánskohorské Boudy – Breached Dam – to Josefův Důl (11.0 km)

From Jiřetín follow the unmarked route to Albrechtice and then along Waberloch to Mariánská Hora and the hunting lodge. Continue on the green footpath past Linek Cross (at the highest point of the path, on the left on the spruce tree) to Mariánskohorské Boudy. Here take the yellow path to the left to get to the Breached Dam on Bílá Desna. Take the yellow route back to Mariánskohorské Boudy and follow the yellow markings down to Josefův Důl and the railway station. Take a train back.

8. To Jablonec n.N. – to Černá Studnice – Černostudniční Ridge – Muchov – Terezínka – to Tanvald (12.0 km)

From Jiřetín take the train through Smržovka to Jablonec n.N. (Note – only to the Jablonec station stop). From here take the street U zastávky – at the crossroads go right down K Černé Studnici street – under the railway viaduct down U brusíren street – to Alšová street, where there is a green marker which will take us up the hill to the Černá Studnice viewpoint. From here follow the red markers towards Berany – via Muchov – Terezínka – to Tanvald and the railway station. Take the train back through Smržovka to Jiřetín.

9. To Bramberk – Maxov – and either to Josefův Důl and railway station; or to Buková Hora – and Jiřetín p. B. (12.0 km or 19.5 km)

From Jiřetín follow the yellow markers to the pod Bukovou crossroads and then take the blue route to Bramberk. Take the green path from Bramberk to Horní Maxov and then either the green to Josefův Důl and the railway station and return home by train (shorter variant); or from Horní Maxov go along the green route to the turn-off to Buková Hora and then walk along the yellow route back to Jiřetín (longer variant).

10. To Josefův Důl – hydro-electric plant (dam) to Kamenice – Kristiánov – Nová Louka – Královka – Slovanka – Josefův Důl (20.5 km)

Take the train from Jiřetín to Josefův Důl. From here follow the yellow path to the dam at Kamenice – carry on along the yellow to Kristiánov. From Kristiánov turn left along the blue route to Nová Louka (Šámal Chalet). From Nová Louka you can follow the tarmac road towards Bedřichov and ascend Královka. Follow the green markers from Královka to Slovanka and from there take the red path to Josefův Důl and the railway station. From there take the train back to Jiřetín.
